OMIMA OSMAN (THEORETICAL ASTROPHYSICIST)
Introducing our first speaker!
Ms Omima is currently a PhD student at ICRAR - The University of Western Australia.
She graduated with a degree in physics from Khartoum University (Sudan), prior to pursuing her post-graduate studies in Italy and Australia. Her research involves analysing simulations of different galaxies and clusters of galaxies.
She firmly believes that handling big data, and being fluent in programming languages such as Python are skills we need as we enter an era of big data science.
MTHANDENI NHLAPO (REGIONAL HR MANAGER)

Mthandeni has enjoyed a global career for over a decade in human resources. As an HR leader and consultant, she partners with business leaders and employees to ensure a positive work environment.
Mthandeni relocated from Dubai as HR Manager and lived there for 6 years prior to moving to Perth. Her last role was HR Transition Manager, where she led critical HR transition projects for Cummins Arabia - Joint Venture.
Mthandeni holds a Master’s in Strategic Human Resource Management from the University of Wollongong in Dubai and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Born and bred in South Africa, she enjoys travel, running, singing, most recently hiking with friends.
BRIGHTON MAREKERA (ENTREPRENEUR AND LAWYER)
Brighton currently works for Western Power. He recently graduated with a Law degree from Murdoch University and also holds a degree in Computer Science. He won the 2020 'Business After COVID-19 All-In Student Challenge' aimed at generating innovative business ideas to support SMEs post-COVID.
He is the Founder of Beautifilic - a platform that provides on-demand beauty and personal care services nationally.
He is Tech Lead for the soon to be launched Zimbabwe Australia Mutual Society, an organisation aiming to address socio-economic issues impacting Australian-Zimbabweans.
He enjoys watching Africa-focused documentaries and enjoys an occasional cup of tea with an authentic African dish.
RICHARD NYEN (STRATEGY ANALYST)
Richard has worked with both private and public sector organisations in Canada in the field of Strategic Governance, Risk and Compliance.
He currently works at the University of Western Australia in the role of Analyst, Governance and Reporting.
He is the institutor of the African Professionals Network - Perth, a forum for professionals of African origin in Perth to expand their professional networks, share knowledge and ideas, and build lasting bonds that create opportunities for career development and progression.
Richard was born in Ghana and emigrated to Canada with his family in his early adolescent years. His hobbies include soccer, running, reading, discussing politics, and most recently golfing.
LIBABA DABRE (ENTREPRENEUR - RESTAURANT OWNER)
Born in Ghana, West Africa, Libaba Dabre migrated to Australia in 2008 with her family.
She always dreamt of opening a catering business and is now the proud owner of Liba's Authentic African Cusine.
She studied catering at Ho Polytechnic in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Her business caters for weddings, christenings, birthday parties, university workshops among others.
She also provides catering services to the Ghanaian soccer team in Perth.
She aims to make Africa proud by introducing Ghanaian cuisine to Australia.
Her restaurant is located in Thornlie Square Shopping Center, Western Australia
ERNEST NNADIGWE (PASTOR AND COUNSELLOR)
Born in Nigeria, West Africa, Pastor Ernest Nnadigwe migrated to Australia in 2004 with his family. He is a Provincial Pastor in charge of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Northern Territory and Western Australia. He is a Family and Domestic Violence practitioner consultant with over 12 years’ experience and the Chief Executive Officer of Redeemed Care Inc.
A skilled practitioner, Ernest is a Senior Counsellor with Australia Counsellors Association (ACA, level 4), specialising in Relationship Counselling, Anger Management and Domestic Violence Counselling.
Pastor Ernest Nnadigwe holds Bachelor of Geological Sciences (Hons), Postgraduate Diploma (Christian Ministry and Theology) and Masters of Social Science (Counselling and Psychotherapy. He is currently completing a PhD research in Family and Domestic Violence at the University of Western Australia (UWA).
