SIGANA was established by Diana Onyonyi in 2019.
Her mission is to celebrate the beauty, power, hope and dynamism of the African narrative.
As a proud Luo woman from Kenya, Diana chose the name SIGANA as it signifies a form of storytelling within Luo culture. Sigana brings members of a family or community together and often teaches values, lessons from elders, traditions and customs.
In the spirit of Sigana, we give a platform to those who are committed to reclaiming Africa’s narrative through stories that are afro-positive and afro-optimistic. We are intentional about including a diverse blend of speakers and artists who are transforming the world’s perspective of Africa.
Our platform is designed to give communities across the world the opportunity to learn, grow and broaden their perspective of the continent.
